Yates American 22” Jointer

Yates American was formed in 1925 when the American Woodworking Machinery Co. was bought by Yates and they subsequently operated out of Rochester, NY for some years.

Their basic jointer design was patented in the early 1880’s by Frank Clement. The cutter head on ours has been upgraded to a modern helical type with carbide inserts. The shape and size of the 22” wide jointer table is reminiscent of an aircraft carrier’s flight deck.. This machine’s massive power is made evident when the sound of the machine at idle barely increases as an 18” wide plank is run over the cutter head.
