It has feed speeds of 46 and 59 feet per minute and runs on more than 30 ball bearings. Thicknesses of over 8” can be planed readily. The planer’s smooth and quiet operation barely suggests its power. A pass under the new Hermance head leaves the most difficult hardwood with a polished finish.
Built in Germany in 1960, this 28” planer has been retrofitted with a custom made Hermance Helix head with 204 carbide inserts.
